A Model Spin
From day one, our goal with the design of this stunning model home was to create an unexpected, eco-eclectic space – the antithesis of the typical model home. Our focus was not only to showcase the view from the floor to ceiling windows, but to “go green” – reusing vintage pieces, displaying products with a local, organic or sustainable spin, and illustrate the art of blending the new with the old, always keeping scale, color and function in mind. The challenge – take the myriad of elements provided and create a space that spoke our vision. Local artists and vendors are represented around every corner – from vintage furniture dealers, custom furniture makers, organic textile design and “green” upholstery, to fine local artists and talented retailers who gladly shared pieces that they had on hand. The result – a space to breathe, relax and remember that no matter your style, your home should reflect you – and be beautiful.
“…(Amy) recognized that any building that is anticipating LEED platinum certification needed an eco-eclectic model home that spoke to the modern “green” design of the building. She designed a beautiful space, and has helped us to show off a beautiful building and a well designed home.”Less Details
Contemporary Glam… To Go
Every now and then, a client comes along with an intense, bold sense of style – a designer’s dream! Linda was renting a new home with a transitional aesthetic, but thinking ahead to an upcoming relocation, knew she wanted furniture and accents in a decadent palette of whites, steely grays and creamy ivories to take to with her. In her master bedroom, we started with existing bedding (with two seasonal looks) and a few treasured furniture pieces, and set off to create a room that rivals the finest hotel suite. A custom upholstered king size bed provided a posh foundation for Linda’s luxurious linens and the sparkling mirrored chest reflects the cozy seating area and sleek acrylic console.
The living room is anchored by a duo of graphite club chairs & ottoman, a crisp, custom sofa in casual white denim and an artistic custom glass and acrylic coffee table. A stunning turquoise settee, upholstered in dupioni silk with a down-filled cushion wrapped in the most decadent textured velvet, and a vibrant original painting and accessories stand in contrast to the grey and white tones in throughout space.
“After moving 6 times in the last 10 years (including 2 overseas assignments), my furnishings were either non-descript or non-existent. While I was clear on the style and colors that I wanted to incorporate, I had no clue on how to execute my dreams. Amy has done a wonderful job working with my visions while pushing me outside my creative comfort zone – and keeping a careful eye on my budget. She has great color sense and an uncanny ability to choose just the right accessory. And on top of her skills and talent, she is great fun to work with.”Less Details
Forest Heights for Four
When Jeff and Jen relocated from a their first house in Raleigh Hills to their dream home in Forest Heights, they wanted an updated, mature interior design that fit with the style of their stately new home. More Details
Like most new homeowners, they were itching to get the job done… Completely furnish a formal living and dining room, master bedroom, media room and family room – quickly, and on a budget. When time is of the essence, retail or in-stock purchasing is often the most effective route.
We set the stage, covering boring white walls with warm, better-than-beige paint colors in every room in the house, then teamed custom furniture pieces with select furnishings from top local retailers. Artwork and accessories, lamps and area rugs were thoughtfully selected, and the homeowner’s treasured pieces were placed strategically around the house to tie the new with the familiar.
“(Amy) immediately went to work creating a wonderful color palette for our walls, blending the right combination to exude a sense of welcome and warmth. Wow, what a transformation! Amy’s ability to give honest opinions and feedback, as well as keeping the lines of communication open was refreshing. She let us know what she thought would work; always giving us a few different options and designs. We highly recommend Amy to anyone looking to work with a talented interior designer with a great personality.”
